Our Story

Founded in 1988 by a team of electrical engineers in Chicago, Generac Generator began as a specialist manufacturer of programmable logic controllers for the North American food processing industry. Over three decades, we have expanded into a comprehensive industrial automation platform — adding variable frequency drives, servo systems, HMI panels, and our flagship Smart Energy IIoT platform.

Today, with 5,600 employees, three manufacturing campuses, and R&D centers in Chicago, Munich, and Shenzhen, we serve customers in 108 countries through a network of 240+ distribution partners.
